コラボレーションコレクションadidas × Gucciを例えるなら、スラムダンク、ハットトリック、グランドスラムといった言葉が相応しい。スポーツにおけるあらゆる賞賛の言葉を並べたくなるほどの完全勝利がそこにある。
スポーツというテーマはもちろん、アレッサンドロ・ミケーレがadidasのアーカイブを振り返ることで誕生したレトロなスポーツウェアコレクションadidas × Gucciそのもののテーマだ。
adidas × Gucciが初めて披露された2022年秋冬「Exquisite Gucci」ランウェイショーでは、古風なアスレジャーに対するミケーレの思いが具現化されていた。
これまでのGucciのコレクションの中でもミケーレはトラックジャケットやテニスセーターなどを登場させていたが、それがより本格化しているのが今回のコレクションだ。

そこにあるのは本物の持つ力だろう。adidas × Gucciのトラックジャケット、Tシャツ、バッグ、ガゼルスニーカーといったアイテムが登場すること自体、魅力ではあるが、その存在感を何よりも際立たせているのは、それらが本物のコラボレーションアイテムであるという事実だ。

トラックジャケットも単なるトラックジャケットではなく、adidasのトラックジャケットのバリエーションのひとつとして登場している。adidasが作り出し、後続の軽量アスレチックウィンドブレーカーの標準となった、さっと着られるアウターウェアの元祖、最高峰の血筋を確かに引いているのだ。
adidas × Gucciは、基本的にはアパレルという領域におけるコラボレーションではあるが、同時に「本物」のコラボレーションであることを証明する内容にもなっている。互いの創立年が数十年と離れていない2つの偉大なブランドが手を取り合い、夢のチームを結成している。
GucciとThe North Faceとのコラボレーションもそうだったが、adidas × Gucciにも納得感がある。クラシックなアイテムへのオマージュと新鮮な視点の両方が感じられるためだ。ベテランと、ドラフト選抜選手との掛け合いとでも言うべきか。

adidas × Gucciでは、魅力的なかぎ針編みジャケット、モノグラムの「トラック」パンツ、インスタントクラシックバケットハットやキャップに加え、ブランドロゴが控え目なサファリジャケット、チャンキーニット、レース付きポロシャツ、しわ加工のスカートといった新境地を開くようなアイテムも展開されている。
スポーツにおいて、チームのすべてを象徴するような伝説の一戦というものがあるように、adidas × Gucciのアクセサリーは、コラボレーションの核心を凝縮した、簡潔な主張となっている。

adidas × Gucciアイテムの事実上の代表格はコラボレーションシューズのガゼルだが、他に、プラットフォームサンダルに変身したadidasスライド、モノグラムキャンバスでグッチ化されたトラベルケース、レトロなデイグローカラーで変身した控え目なスポーツソックスという選択も自在だ。

Gucciから登場した珠玉のコレクションから、小誌も最近、adidas × Gucciピースを手に入れた。ルックブックにはないスーツやダブルつばのキャップなどを実際に間近で見てみたが、やはりランウェイで見た通りの奇抜さが味わえる。
